Welcome to My Blog!

I am so excited to be blogging with you! Don't be shy. Leave a comment, even if I don't know you. But before we begin, I will tell you a little about myself.

Above is my dog and my namesake, Pascal. He is very important in my life because he is my first dog and because I have wanted a dog my whole life.

I enjoy playing with my sister who is in preschool. She is fun to play with because, well, she's a sister. Our favorite game to play is Kitty Cat Game. We made up this amazing game. You have to pretend to be an animal with a friend. Someone else pretends to be an owner who only wants to adopt one animal, and the owner takes you both because you love each other too much. I love my sister with all my heart, and she loves me "to infinity and beyond and back."

I do love fonts, colors, sizes, bolding, italicizing and underlining.
As you can see I love playing with all the tools that my drive gives
me.

These two books are my two favorite books. The Wizard of Oz is very old, but it is very well written. From my point-of-view, the book is way better  than the movie because the book has more detail than the movie.

I like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire because of the Triwizard tournament. The Triwizard tournament is a game in which kids have to get though three tough challenges. I do not want to spoil it for you, so I won't tell any more. I strongly recommend these books.

What are your interests?

What is important to you in your life?

  1. Dear Pascal,

What a fabulous new blog you have assembled! I love it!

Like you, I love to read. Not only do I love nonfiction and fiction, I simply adore poetry. I have discovered that many in our class love poetry as well!

You asked what is important in my life. First and foremost in my life is my husband, Mr. Yollis. We enjoy hiking and spending time outdoors, as well as traveling around the world learning everything we can. One day, I would like to visit the country of Italy. Not only would I love to see all the beautiful artwork, but the foods that come from Italy are fabulous.

My friends and family, including Buck, are also important to me. Being with the ones you love brings joy to one's life.

Where would you like to travel if you could go anywhere?

    Your proud teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

    1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

If I could travel any where in the world, I would travel to Kenya, Africa. My parents have went there and simply loved it! I want to go there because I have heard there are many wild animals there. Not that I want to live there, I would be too scared, but I just want to visit. I have always dreamed of ever seeing a tiger, giraffe, or lion with my own eyes in the wild. Since I am way more used to pets, it would indeed be a great shock if I ever saw a lion running in the wild, but it would be a fantastic sight!

My sister and brother went on a trip with our grandparents to Venice, Italy. My sister kept a journal in which she wrote all about the trip. I asked her what it was like in venice and she said that there when you stepped out of your front door, you went on a boat to go somewhere else in town. Italy sounds like tons of fun!

What animals would you see in Italy?

    2. Dear Mrs. Yollis,
Thank you for being my first blogger! And thank you for the opportunity of having a blog! Now for your question. I would love to go to Greece with my grandma. The reason I would love to go there is because my ancestry is from there.

      What is your favorite book?

      Love,
      Pascal

  2. Dear Pascal, What a fun new blog! I know that my daughter, who is 8 years old, will love to read it as well. So, like you, I love all forms of creative expression - particularly reading, writing, and art. I'm teaching art to little kids right now, which is a lot of fun. I'm also working on my first children's book! As far as what's important in my life: my two children, my sweet husband, and making a positive difference in the world through art and teaching!

  3. Dear Pascal,
Greetings from Maryland (and very close to our nation's capital!). I really enjoyed reading your blog. I remember reading the Wizard of Oz when I was in 6th grade but I remember the movie a lot more than the book. I've read the Goblet of Fire too, but the funny thing is that I still haven't read the last Harry Potter book and don't know what happened. (Don't tell me, though! I still hope to read it.)

I have a 12-year-old son named Danny and a 10-year-old daughter named Annelise. They wanted a dog for a really long time. Last fall we got one and named her Ginger. She's very playful and sweet. Sometime she chews things she shouldn't chew, but we love her a lot.

Thanks sharing your blog. It seems like you really enjoy writing!

  5. Hello Pascal,

You have made an amazing start to your blog. Getting to know the blogger is important for readers.

Through my life, I have had a number of dogs and birds. They are good companions. I don't have a pet now but numerous wild birds visit my yward for the seed I leave out and then there's the animals I photograph when hiking.

I also like fonts and have a large collection to help me when I am designing covers and surface prints for the DVDs and CDs I produce for local schools and communtiy groups While I like most about recording and producing CDs and DVDs, I always enjoy the break to design the graphics I need.

I agree, "The Wizard of Oz" and Harry Potter stories are great reads. Both are magical.

What are my interests? That's a hard one as I have so many. Perhaps it's whatever doing at any given time. It could be hiking, photography, videography, blogging, commenting, graphics work, writing stories, helping others... I thin you get the idea.

What is important to me in my life? I suppose it's as my autobiography. I was once challenged to write my autobiography (life story) in only six words. I wrote..
"Seeking ways to make a difference"

Keep blogging. You have made a great start.

    1. Dear Ross Mannell,
Thank you for being my first out of the continent commenter! I really appreciate how you took your time out of your schedule to visit my blog. I love the way that when you had to write your autobiography in six words you chose those words. I will try to write mine in six words

Did it take you a long time to chose those words?

      From,
      Pascal

    2. Hello Pascal,

Writing can be one of those strange things that can take a long or short time. The writing didn't take long at all. The task was getting it down to the six word limit. Most others who tried used six separate words whereas I wanted a single sentence.

The entry was written back in February 2012 as part of a writing challenge for adults. I wrote many short stories (normally no more than around 100 words) between July 2011 and March 2014. They were added to my writing blog which still exists.

  6. Hello Pascal,

Congratulations on your blog - I loved reading about your love for your dog, your sister, and your current favorite books!

I was wondering if you ever had the time to research the history of your name. Pascal was an amazing person, and he gave the world a plethora of contributions. Being named after such an inspirational human being and giving your precious dog this name is quite noteworthy. Can you tell me anything about Blaise Pascal?

I was very pleased to read that you would love to visit Greece with your grandma which is "Yiayia" in Greek. Greece is one of my favorite places in the world, and you will love its spectacular food, music, and architecture.

Looking forward to your response and your next blog entry,
    Mrs. Chalfin:)

    1. Dear Mrs. Chalfin :-)
Thank you for writing on my blog. I love it when people take time to visit my blog.

I do know about Blaise Pascal. I agree that he was an amazing person. My favorite thing he did is invent "Pascal's Triangle."

My favorite Greek food is baklava. One of the ways my grandma and I make it is instead of butter we use oil. We discovered this amazing way of making it when we were trying to make it for my dad who can't have dairy and, we could not find the margarine so we used oil. It was a happy accident!

      Love,
      Pascal ♥

  7. Dear Pascal. I am so thrilled that you have a blog! Many important people have blogs, and also people who have some interesting things to write about. I hope to read about all your activities through your blog. For example, I loved seeing the photos of the Chumash Festival, and reading about what you liked about it.

I understand you recently went to visit LegoLand. Can you write about your experiences on your blog? I have never been there, so cannot imagine what it is like. Do they give you some Legos for you to build something? I never played with Legos when I was little. We did not have Lego toys in Greece, where I am from. I am sure they have them now.

You ask what my interests are and what is important in my life. My answers to these two questions coincide. My interests are my family and it is also my family that is important in my life. I love to see you and spend time with you and Dahlia. And also your cousin Nikos. And what we call "extended family" is important to me and friends too!

You mentioned that you are interested in Greece and would like to travel there some day. I would love to travel with you to Greece and show you where I am from, the people and the culture. Perhaps we can make that trip sometime in the future. You will get a small "taste" of Greece when you go to the Greek Festival tomorrow. I hope we will have a chance to practice some of the dances before you go. Make sure you go with an empty stomach, because there will be some very yummy food there. And, of course, the desserts will be amazing.......particularly the Loukoumades!

I have tried two times before to write to you on your blog, but must have done something wrong, because I lost everything I had typed....both times. I hope this time to be able to post my message to you.

Perhaps you can write on your blog about Legoland and about your impressions of the Greek Festival!

I hope to see you soon!!
    Love,
    Grandma
